The pipes are thawed. .

and so life can get back to normal (hopefully).  30 days without water to the house was quite an adventure.  But, I have to give my husband credit, he's the one that hauled warm water from the shed day after day and finally came up with an idea that worked due to his diligence.

I finished the cockscomb block that is going to be the middle of my Grandmother's Choice quilt.
There is one block per week which comes out to 52 blocks.  I decided to do a 7X8 setting so I need 4 extra blocks.  Rather than do four duplicates or come up with four more different blocks I opted to add a center block measuring 16" finished.

I think this cockscomb block looks fabulous with the other smaller blocks.

The cockscomb block is from this book by Kim Diehl.  I can't imagine making all those blocks because just making one nearly wore me out.

PS  I'm washing clothes, my dishwasher is working, I can flush the toilet. . .   I am one happy lady.

SO glad things are back to normal for you waterwise, Robin. That must have been quite an adventure!
Your cockscomb block is gorgeous! Can't remember if you said which applique method you were using--did you do Kim's method or needle turned or what. Any or all of it scares me. : )
It will make a wonderful medallion for the center of your quilt.

I like the coxcomb block and the fabrics you used to create it. Will be a good addition to your quilt blocks already created. Kim Diehl books are such a good source of patterns and ideas. I think I have all of her books.

Oh my... I cannot imagine 30 days without water! Our well pump failed shortly before Christmas and 6 hours without water was plenty - now I feel like a wimp. Your block is gorgeous!
