Blessings

Ta Da!   I finished the swags and berries which didn't quite match up in the corners due to miscalculations on my part 😜.  So I decided to do a red ribbon (which I think looks really cute).  And now an unintentional Christmas vibe has appeared.  I've named the quilt Blessings after the line of fabric that is the black border fabric by Jan Patek.  The pattern is inspired by a little Mother's Day wall hanging by Cheri Payne.  I enlarged the flowers and then just made it up from there.

It measures 49 1/2" X 61".

I gathered some Christmas decorations that were easy to get to and assembled a quick vignette.

It's going to be fun to decorate with this.  I'd prefer to have it quilted but even if it isn't quilted by Christmas I can tuck in the sides and find a fun place to use it.

I finished to Chicken quilt that was on the frames, more about that in another post, and have started hand quilting the Sweet Land of Liberty quilt.  I pin basted it abundantly and I am just quilting it in my lap.  It's very soothing and I am in no hurry.

My youngest daughter has collected all her tropical fabric and came over yesterday to lay out a small quilt.    The beige alternate pieces look like sand if you enlarge the photo.  She has been saving these for a long time.  School started yesterday and after last year of online school and monitoring four children, ages 14 down to 8,  she is home with precious uninterrupted time for a while during the day.

I look forward to her coming over every week and we can sew together.

We are in the middle of a delightful rainstorm.  It is supposed to last all day and into tomorrow.
Ahhhh!  It just feels so good.  We got almost 1/2" in 20 minutes yesterday as an introductory downpour for the now present storm.

I tried to take a video but alas, I guess I'm not savvy enough.

I think it might be a good day to put a puzzle together,  What do you think?

Oh your swagged quilt is such a beauty...and your daughter's tropical squares set out with the sandy-looking fabric reminds me of our trip to the Caribbean many years ago...so pretty with those Hawaiian print shirt ones...

Have a good time quilting Sweet Land of Liberty--I so wanted to make that one, but never did get around to figuring out those blocks...[I am not at all good at that kind of "flying by the seat of my pants". ]

No rain here as yet--it is just SO DRY--hoping for some much needed rains in the next few days...
hugs, Julierose

What a holiday beauty your quilt is, those joyful bows added a perfect touch to the border. Your daughter's fabrics are so lovely, along with the sand hued fabric will make a great colorful quilt. So nice that you'll have the opportunity to sew together too. Wish I had a daughter or DIL who was interested in making quilts. We've had over 2.5 inches of rain in the last day and the remnants of tropical storm Fred are upon us today. The creek is a'rising!

I think those red bows are just the sweetest finishing touch to this quilt. It's amazing how sometimes a "problem" actually makes way for something special and unique. I love the name Blessings for your quilt. How wonderful that you can quilt with your daughter! Hurray for the rain!

That is a really pretty quilt for the holidays that will be here sooner than we think!!
I have made 3 Christmas quilt tops--not one of which is quilted yet, and I have used them to decorate for years. :)
I like the tropical quilt idea--the tan does look like sand when you enlarge the photo. There are a few tropical prints in my stash that I have been itching to turn into a quilt. Maybe I need to look for a "sand" print.
Oh, the rain today was glorious. We didn't get any yesterday--just a lot of wind. Today I settled into my recliner and finished up the hand quilting on a mini and enjoyed the rain outside the French doors. Wish I could have days like that more often!
Rainy days are definitely good puzzle days. :)

That is a gorgeous quilt! Love the swag! I look forward to seeing your sweet land of liberty quilt finished. I still have to make more blocks on mine.

Blessings is a delightful quilt, Robin. I love the great variety of green fabrics you used for the flowers and the swags. And then the ribbons/bows are perfect. They don't give the least hint that your original intentions didn't work. I have the Cheri flowers in mind, trying to decide how I want to use them....
It's wonderful that you've begun quilting SLOL. You must have worked out the unevenness.
Your daughter's quilt is fun and I know you'll enjoy sewing with her every week.
Oh, the rain! I love a good rain, even more I love a good thunderstorm. We've had several recently. The only thing not to like is the humidity and high dew point that sometimes results. When that happens we almost feel like we're living under water. I'm grateful for air conditioning.

Ongoing progress

I finished the center with the gifts and put on a double star border.  It now measure 48" square. Now I'm at a standstill. . .  I&#...
